Melle, 10 August 2018 – Brewery Huyghe is a regular participant of the renowned
Beer Challenge and in the past multiple medals were won. The 2018 edition was a big success in any case: the brewer from Melle won a bronze, silver and gold medal for respectively Delirium Red, Delirium Tremens and Averbode abbey beer. Huyghe is doing better than last year, when 'only' 2 medals were won. By winning 3 new medals the total medals won this year amounts to 12.
Connoisseurs of the beer world will acknowledge that the International Beer Challenge has a very good reputation. This 'institute' exists for over 20 years and still continues to grow. This year the jury had to evaluate about 900 beers from more than 30 countries in no less than 72 categories. Whoever wins here, can unquestionably be called 'top', as the jury is strict and competition fierce.
This year Huyghe is taking 3 medals home, one more than last year. Delirium Red wins bronze in the category Fruit Beer, whereas 'big brother' Delirium Tremens takes the silver medal in the category Tripel. Averbode abbey beer however, is the big winner with a gold medal in the category Belgian/Continental-Style Blonds. This brings the total medals won this year for Huyghe at 12. Alain De Laet, however, is an ambitious man and aims even higher: "Last year our brewery won no less than 13 medals and it looks like we are going to beat that record. Obviously, a new record would be wonderful, but above all I hope our sales will beat records. In that respect, we are doing far from bad: in the first 6 months of 2018 we can already boast a 15% increase in sales."To overview
