Averbode, La Guillotine and Delirium Tremens are the winners
The year has only just begun and brewery Huyghe is already in a winning mood: in the Czech Prague the brewer from Melle won no less than 3 gold medals and Delirium Tremens was even awarded overall winner at the World Beer Idol competition. Last year Huyghe won 13 beer awards in total and they continue this way it looks like that record could be broken this year.
No one has to explain the Czech how they have to brew beer, after all they have a century-old beer culture themselves. Every year the Czech top beer connoisseurs gather at the World Beer Idol competition, together with an international jury of about 30 people. They were served beers from all over the world and it was their task to elect the best beers in over 60 categories.
Brewery Huyghe, a regular customer at international beer competitions, won the main prize: Delirium Tremens was elected as overall winner of the competition! The beer of the pink elephant also won gold in the category, 'Belgian Tripel' and Averbode and La Guillotine also won their category, respectively in 'Belgian Blonde/Pale Ale' and 'Belgian Strong Pale Ale'.
Alain De Laet, CEO of the brewery is obviously a happy man: “Last year we had an exceptional year with no less than 13 medals. With these 3 gold medals and Delirium Tremens as overall winner we certainly have started the year really well. Moreover, these medals help us to give our beers even more international recognition. And this is certainly welcome, given our ambitious plans to conquer the Indian and African market, after having successfully penetrated the Chinese growth market."overview
