Melle, 10 June 2016 – After having won 2 medals (gold and silver) in Germany earlier this year, brewery Huyghe this time was awarded at the other side of the world. At the Australian International Beer Awards Delirium Tremens won silver and Averbode and Delirium Nocturnum both a bronze medal. And at the Shanghai International Beer Festival Averbode won a silver medal. Moreover, Delirium Tremens was given a three golden star Superior Taste Award by the International Taste & Quality Institute. Once a again a confirmation of the quality of the beers of the independent, family brewery.
In a society where an increasing number of (micro)breweries are popping up, and hence more beers are entering the market, the competition at international beer festivals is also becoming more fierce. Despite the increased competition brewery Huyghe continues to win. At the end of May the 24th edition of the Australian International Beer Awards took place, one of the world's most renowned beer competitions. More than 1700 beers of 350 brewers from all over the world were entered and 3 beers of Huyghe feature amongst the winners: in the category Best Specialty Beer Delirium Tremens won a silver medal, whereas little brother Delirium Nocturnum won a bronze medal in the category Best Amber/Dark Ale. Also Averbode abbey beer won a bronze medal: in the category Best Belgian/French Style Ale
But also at the Shanghai International Beer Festival Huyghe was on the winning side: in the category Belgium Blond Ale Averbode won a silver medal. CEO Alain De Laet is a happy man: "Although we are only a small player in an international perspective, nevertheless we manage to play along in the big league, which pleases me utterly. It proves that our beers excel in quality and moreover have a unique taste. It is by all means rewarding for the entire team. And these medals help us to enter new export markets. Hence, these medals are a lot more than just prestige."
But also on a national level Huyghe won prizes: the International Taste & Quality Institute (iTQi) gave Delirium Tremens a 3 Golden Star 2016 Superior Taste Award in Brussels, on Thursday 2 June.To overview
